2018 - Jimmy Fund Walk
On September 23rd, members of MA HOBY volunteered at the Jimmy Fund Walk finish line. With 9,500 participants, walking from Hopkinton (26.2 miles), Wellesley (13.1 miles), Newton (6.2 miles) or the Dana Farber (3.2 miles), the Jimmy Fund had a goal of raising 9 million dollars for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
MA HOBY alumni kept the energy up throughout the day to welcome all walkers, from the first one to cross the finish line to the very last. A total of 119,000 miles were walked, and 8.5 million dollars were raised. Walkers were met by cheering, medals, music, and MA HOBY alumni’s positivity, while handing out medals elevated the spirits of the Jimmy Fund to new heights.
“The energy and positivity they bring to the day is unmatched,” said Associate Director Jessica Hogan.
All participants came together with one mission in mind: Take a walk against cancer. The walkers walked half of the distance to the moon and MA HOBY’s passion brought the Jimmy Fund Walk the rest of the way there.
We can’t wait to see familiar and new faces at next year’s Jimmy Fund Walk!
