2018 - Christmas in the City

On the weekend of December 15th-16th, 2018, MA HOBY alumni and staff volunteered with Christmas in the City (CITC) at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center. This is the 30th anniversary of CITC, and MA HOBY members participated with this 100% volunteer-run non-profit organization for the 8th consecutive year. Volunteers set-up the annual holiday party on Saturday the 15th. On Sunday the 16th, more than 5,000 children and 1,500 parents from local shelters celebrated. MA HOBY volunteers welcomed one of the larger shelters, ensuring that the guests enjoyed the food, gifts, and Winter Wonderland.

In the Winter Wonderland, children were awed by the numerous amusement rides, crafts, and animals. Some children raced down the Super Slide, while others took their turn riding on a camel. The Blue Man Group gave a special performance at CITC, adding amazement to the joyful event.

MA HOBY volunteers organized the toy distribution and explored the Winter Wonderland with the children, contributing to a magical experience for everyone. Each child received a gift based on their wishlist, and smiles spread across their faces as they opened their gifts. The CITC holiday party truly captured the spirit of the holiday season.
