2017 - SOMA Tournament of Champions
On August 26th and 27th MA HOBY partnered with Special Olympics to help out with their Tournament of Champions. MA HOBY volunteers officiated bocce games and cheered on athletes during the days. Saturday night, MA HOBY volunteers helped run games at Olympic Town as a way for athletes to have a fun and relaxing night after a hard day of competing. HOBY has a strong partnership with Special Olympics and we look forward to helping at the winter games this upcoming March!
Here are a couple of thank yous that SOMA sent to MA HOBY.
Matt Ruxton, VP of Sports said “I hope everyone has had the time to recover from the weekend. What a great weekend it was and we couldn’t have asked for better weather (I wish I could say we ordered it). THANK YOU for being a part of this event and everything you did to make it a success. Special Olympics Massachusetts can’t run our events without you and your passion for the athletes who participate with us. Thank you for all that you do to give our athletes a quality sports experience. Here is a link to our end of season thank you video https://youtu.be/NJdjgRRpUTg. Enjoy!”
Jen Dowdy, Volunteer Engagement Manager said, “Thank you again for all of your time and help preparing for Tournament of Champions and coordinating another large group of HOBY volunteers. We received great feedback from everyone at bocce about how well the volunteers did – their experience adds to the success of the games each year! I had the pleasure of working with Nishant, Julia, and the rest of the HOBY volunteers at Olympic Village. Their energy, flexibility, and enthusiasm made for a great sports event for Young Athletes and a fun and inclusive Olympic Village!”
